New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the progress of the cooperative sector at a high level meeting with Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. According to the release issued by the PMO, the Prime Minister insisted on promoting organic products through cooperative organizations. At the same time, he talked about focusing on export markets through cooperative societies to improve agricultural practices. Modi also stressed the need for partnership with global organizations. He highlighted the importance of integrating UPI with Rupe KCC card to facilitate financial transactions.

Narendra Modi discussed the various initiatives made by the Ministry of Cooperative Societies and the various initiatives made by the Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Cooperation to promote ‘prosperity’ to bring changes through technological progress in this field of cooperatives, to increase the participation of youth and women in cooperatives. Modi said that it is very important to document the properties of cooperative organizations to ensure transparency. He suggested promoting cooperative farming as a more sustainable agricultural model. Both Principal Secretaries of the Prime Minister, Dr. PK Mishra and Shaktikanta Das, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani were also present in this meeting.

Modi proposed to start cooperative courses in schools, colleges and IIMs as well as promote successful cooperative organizations to inspire future generations. He further stated that young graduates should be encouraged to contribute and cooperative organizations should be ranked based on their performance, so that competition and development can be promoted simultaneously. Cooperatives play an important role in many sectors of the economy. In this context, this meeting highlighted the contribution of the cooperative sector in India’s economy, especially agriculture, rural development and economic inclusion.
