Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed company Akasha Air will start operating its commercial flights in July instead of June. Vinay Dubey, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akash Air told PTI, “As we get closer to the date of launch of the airline, we will now be able to confirm our timeline estimates.”
What is the company’s plan
“We expect to receive delivery of our first aircraft in early June 2022 with the intention of starting commercial operations in July 2022,” he said.
Dubey is also the founder and managing director of the company. He said that Akash Air is sticking to the plan to fly 18 aircraft by the end of March 2023.

The plan was to fly first from June
Significantly, Dubey had said at an aviation event on March 26 that the airline was planning to start its commercial operations in June.
Akash Air, backed by Jhunjhunwala and aviation stalwart Aditya Ghosh, had received a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the civil aviation ministry in the first fortnight of August 2021 to start operating commercial flights.
