According to IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022, Ratan Tata is ranked 421st with an estimated net worth of Rs 3,800 crore.
The Tata Group chairmen have given their assets to Tata Trusts, which holds two-thirds of Tata Sons. About 60% of the dividends from Tata Sons are allocated to charitable efforts. Under Ratan Tata, Tata Trusts developed and promoted 10 cancer care facilities in Assam, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The facilities make world-class treatment accessible to poor people. Ratan Tata actively steered the Tata Trusts towards addressing critical social needs, establishing institutions of excellence such as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and financing educational initiatives across India.

Let us tell you that Ratan Tata was so serious about the treatment of cancer that he set up a network of hospitals across the country for the treatment of cancer. A few years ago, a 1000-bed cancer hospital was opened in Guwahati, Assam. Four cancer hospitals have been opened in the north-eastern states. Two-three years ago, 400 beds were added in TMC, Kolkata. He also opened a big cancer hospital in Banaras. Along with this, he also started a cancer hospital in Muzaffarpur. He inaugurated a cancer hospital two years ago in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.
Ratan Tata’s contribution towards startup
During his time as Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata became more confident about the young businessmen of the 21st century and started helping them. Ratan Tata invests in new-age tech-driven startups. He was confident that these companies would play an important role in shaping the future of the country. Tata personally and through his investment company RNT Capital Advisors invested in more than 30 startups, including Ola Electric, Paytm, Snapdeal, Lenskart and Zivame. His love for charity was not limited to humans. He was a dog-lover and recently built a special space for stray dogs at Bombay House, the headquarters of the Tata Group in Mumbai, where they get the facility to stay and hide.
