Mumbai, October 9 (IANS). The health of Indian industrialist and honorary chairman of Tata Sons Ratan Naval Tata, who has been ill for some time, became “critical” on Wednesday. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Monday due to age-related ailments. An officer gave this information.
“He is in the hospital now. We will issue an official statement tomorrow (Thursday) morning,” an official close to Ratan Tata told IANS this evening.
Immediately after his hospitalization two days ago, speculation about his health intensified among the Tata Group, Indian corporate and political circles as well as the general public. To put an end to all the rumours, the 86-year-old corporate mogul issued a statement thanking everyone for their concern and saying that he has been undergoing some routine medical check-ups for age-related health issues, but he is “doing well”. “Mood”.
Taking to social media, he said, “I am aware of the recent rumors regarding my health and want to assure everyone that these claims are baseless. I am currently undergoing a medical checkup due to my age and related medical conditions. There is no reason to worry. I am in good mood and request the public and media not to spread misinformation.”
However, after this his condition became critical and he was reportedly admitted to the ICU. However, Tata Group officials have not confirmed or denied this.
It is noteworthy that after playing a long innings in the family-run conglomerate from 1991 till his retirement on 28 December 2012, Ratan Tata served as the all-powerful Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group. He then made some major changes in the group during his service in another short stint at the top post from 2016-2017.
Ratan Tata, known for his humble behavior, is currently the Chairman of Tata Trust, which includes Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Allied Trust as well as Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Allied Trust.
