New Delhi. The Central Government has become rich in April this year with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection. A record of 2.37 lakh crores has been held in a month. However, after the refund, a total GST collection was recorded at 2.09 crores. Earlier in April 2024, there was a GST collection of Rs 2.10 lakh crore, which was the highest till that time. Last year, 1.91 crore GST collection took place after the refund. According to official data, the GST refund of April 2025 has been Rs 27,341 crore. Whereas in comparison, it was Rs 18,434 crore to talk about the GST refund of April last year.

In this way, GST collection has increased in April this time compared to the previous year. This is the second largest collection since the implementation of the indirect tax system on 1 July 2017. In view of this, there is a possibility that there may be further increase in GST collection in the coming time, which will fill the treasury of the government. The government has set a target of GST collection of about Rs 11.75 crore for the financial year 2026. Talking about the GST collection held so far this year, GST collection was Rs 1.96 lakh crore in January 2025.

Whereas in February, the GST tax collection was 1.83 crore. Similarly, GST collection of 1.96 lakh crore was held in March. Maharashtra in the states is also number one in GST collection this time. A total of Rs 41,645 crore GST collection has been received from Maharashtra in April. After Maharashtra, Karnataka has the highest tax collection. A tax collection of Rs 14,057 crore was done from Haryana. At the same time, Rs 13,600 crore was recovered from Uttar Pradesh as GST. 8,260 crore from New Delhi and Rs 2,290 crore from Bihar received GST collection.
