Dhanbad, 2 April (IANS). Dhanbad Rail Division of Jharkhand has again secured the first place in the entire country in terms of freight in the financial year 2024-25. This achievement has been recorded for the third consecutive year in the name of this railway division.
Divisional Railway Manager Kamal Kishore Sinha gave this information to the media on Wednesday. He informed that Dhanbad Mandal has done well in terms of passenger facilities.
It was told that between April 2024 to March 2025, Dhanbad Railway Division carried 193.91 million tonnes of goods. This is 12 percent of the total freight transportation done by the railway across the country. Due to this, the Mandal has earned more than 26 thousand crore rupees. This is also the highest revenue of any other division in the country.
In the year 2023-24, Dhanbad Railway Division retained the first place in the country by carrying out 188.61 million tonnes and 171.29 million tonnes in the financial year 2022-23. In 2021-22, this Mandal finished second in the country by carrying 158.70 million tonnes of goods.
DRM informed that continuous work is being done on plans to expand passenger facilities and rail connectivity in Dhanbad Railway Division. A direct train from Dhanbad to Mumbai was being demanded for a long time, which is going to be completed now.
He informed that work is going on under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ to modernize 15 stations of Dhanbad Railway Division. Work is going on to increase the pace of trains and soon preparations are being made to run trains at a speed of 160 kmph. On April 4, train operations will be done at a speed of 160 kmph from DDU to Pradhankhata station of Dhanbad division. Railway over rail (ROR) work in Garhwa is going on fast and there is a plan to complete it soon. This will make the local railway traffic and smooth.
