New Delhi, 25 May (IANS). The ‘Rising North East Investors Summit 2025’, held on May 23-24 for the rapid development of the northeast region of the country, has received an investment proposal of Rs 4.3 lakh crore and there have been 8 MoUs (MoUs). This information was given by the government on Sunday.
Union Minister of Communications and North East Region Development Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia said that North East has emerged as a center of global partnership and mutual interest.
The Union Minister said that the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025 invested unprecedented Rs 4.3 lakh crore. This paved the way for the North East Region (NER) to become the next economic superpower of India.
Scindia said, “We welcomed delegations from more than 80 countries, including Japan to Europe and ASEAN countries and all had a unanimous feeling that India’s future is in the North East.”
Jyotiraditya M Scindia praised Prime Minister Modi for not only recognizing the immense possibilities of the North East region but also to adopt it.
He said, “All this could not be possible without the commitment of Prime Minister Modi -led government and his deep, heartfelt connection to the region. Even after six decades of independence, the governments continued to fail to recognize the immense possibilities here, a land that once contributed about 20 percent to the gross domestic product of India. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not only understand this ability, adopted it, rather it was adopted.”
Many big industrialists of the country participated in this summit and announced big investment. Gautam Adani, president of Adani Group, announced an additional Rs 50,000 crore investment in the next decade. Adani had earlier announced an investment of Rs 50,000 crore in Assam in February.
The summit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. During this time, the Prime Minister said that in the last decade, Rs 21,000 crore has been invested in the North East education sector. In his speech, the Prime Minister referred to major development works including more than 800 new schools, the first AIIMS of the region, nine new medical colleges and two new IIITs.
The Prime Minister assured that North East now provides top -level talent in various fields, which is being encouraged to take advantage of the immense possibilities of the sector.
