Rising onion prices cause uproar in the country, onion price reaches Rs 80, know what is the government’s plan

Onion is a very common vegetable, which is used not only with vegetables but also in many dishes. In such a situation, the price of onion has badly affected the budget of the common man. According to government data, the maximum price of onion is Rs 80 per kg while its minimum price is Rs 27 per kg.

The price of onion reached Rs 58 in Delhi
Due to shortage of onion supply in the country’s capital Delhi, the average price of onion has remained high at Rs 58 per kg. This information came to light from government data. According to data collected by the Department of Consumer Affairs, the all India average price of onion was Rs 49.98 per kg on Tuesday while its prevailing price is Rs 50 per kg.

The government is selling onions at the rate of Rs 35 in Delhi-NCR
Let us tell you that on September 5, the Central Government started the retail sale of onions to the consumers of Delhi-NCR and Mumbai at a subsidized rate of Rs 35 per kg through its agencies. NCCF and NAFED are doing retail sales through their centers and mobile vans.

Farmers and traders have 38 lakh tonnes of onions
Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare had said last week that the forecast for onion availability and prices in the coming months remains positive. The area under onion sowing in the Kharif season rose sharply to 2.9 lakh hectares last month from 1.94 lakh hectares in the same period a year ago. Khare had said that farmers and traders still have a stock of about 38 lakh tonnes of onion.
