New Delhi, 6 March (IANS). The participation of women in the workforce in India’s Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities is increasing rapidly. Also, the salary of women in small towns has increased by 34 percent in the last three years. This information was given in the report released on Thursday.
According to Job and Professional Networking platforms, Angotco, the number of women looking for jobs from small cities has increased by four times between 2021 and 2024.
Job applications from these areas have also increased three times, which have reached 1.28 crore in 2024. This trend explains increasing changes in employment patterns beyond major metro cities.
Many factors are responsible for this change, including the availability of higher jobs, better digital access and changes in the recruitment strategy from the employer.
These developments have encouraged more women from non-Metro regions to find different careers and participate in the workforce.
Sales, business development, administrative roles and customers support have become the most popular job sector for women in small cities, their total job applications are 55 percent.
Additionally, many women are showing interest in making a career in the fields of marketing, banking, retail, HR, hospitality, teaching and healthcare.
In 2024, the number of women in field sales, with 1.5 lakh applications in delivery and 2.5 lakhs in logistics and 1.5 lakh applications, is also increasing the number of women in unconventional roles.
The report said that cities like Lucknow, Jaipur, Indore, Bhopal, Surat, Nagpur and Coimbatore have emerged as a major job center for women, which contribute 45 percent of the total job applications.
Other cities like Kanpur, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Chandigarh, Patna, Ludhiana, Vadodara and Guwahati are also emerging as major employment centers.
