New Delhi, 13 March (IANS). In the data released on Thursday by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), it was reported that the Indian automobile industry recorded a record sale of passenger vehicles in February this year, including cars and SUVs. Also, a strong growth in the three -wheeler segment was also recorded.
However, sales of two -wheelers declined during February. The motorcycle segment has declined in two -wheelers, while the sales of the scooter segment have been flat.
Sale of passenger vehicles in February this year was 3,77,689 units, showing an increase of 1.9 percent in February 2024 as compared to 3,70,786 units. This is the largest sales figure so far recorded for the month of February.
Siam said that this figure does not include sales figures from luxury car manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover and Volvo Auto.
Siyam Director General, Rajesh Menon said, “The passenger vehicle segment has been the strongest and the highest number of 3.78 lakh units have been sold in this segment in February 2025.”
In the first 11 months of the current financial year, the sales of passenger vehicles have been 6,92,311 units, which is 13.6 percent higher than the 6,09,505 figure for the same period of 2023-24.
During February, the triple vehicle segment registered an increase of 4.7 percent on an annual basis, which increased to 57,788 units. Last year, 55,175 units were sold in the three -wheeler segment during the same period.
The sales of the two -wheeler segment fell 9 percent to 13,84,605 units on an annual basis. Motorcycle sales have fallen by 13.1 percent, scooter sales 0.5 percent, moped sales have declined by 18.2 percent.
