Sales under Telecom PLI reached Rs 65,320 crore, exports stood at Rs 12,384 crore: Center

New Delhi, November 27 (IANS). The sales of companies applying for the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for telecom and networking products have reached Rs 65,320 crore. With this, these companies have exported Rs 12,384 crore (till September 30). The government gave this information in Parliament on Wednesday.

Union Minister of State for Communications, Dr Chandra Shekhar Pemmasani, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, said that 42 applicant companies (including 28 MSMEs) of the PLI scheme for telecom and networking products have cumulatively invested Rs 3,925 crore.

The special thing about the Telecom PLI Scheme is that 4 to 7 percent incentives are being given for 33 telecom and networking products. One percent additional incentive is being given to MSMEs for the first three years and one percent additional incentive is also being given to companies for products designed in India.

The Minister informed that in order to promote local manufacturing, Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme has been launched in 2022 with the objective of funding research and development of technology, products and services to provide telecom services in rural and remote areas. Went.

The PLI scheme for large electronics products was launched in 2020. Under this, eligible companies involved in the manufacturing of electronic products are given incentives on incremental sales.

Further the Government has also launched Modified Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) to provide support for creation of world class infrastructure with common facilities including Ready Built Factory (RBF) sheds/Plug and Play to attract major global companies in the country. ) scheme was also notified in 2020.

The government’s effort is to make India a global electronics manufacturing hub through PLI.
