Samastipur, 2 April (IANS). Samastipur Railway Division has set a record in the field of transportation from the journey of passengers in the financial year 2024-25. During the year 2024-25, 0.97 million tonnes of goods were loaded from this railway division, which was more than 0.77 million tonnes and 34.59 percent more than the previous year.
DRM Vinay Srivastava told a press conference that the revenue received from freight during this period was Rs 212.88 crore, which is more than the target of 172.71 crore and 36.21 percent more than the previous year’s Rs 156.29 crore. During the financial year 2024-25, the corn loading in the mandal was 208 rakes, which is 70.49 percent more than the previous year. The loading of wheat during this period was 17 rakes, which is 750 percent more than only two rakes of the previous year. Rice loading has also increased.
DRM Vinay Srivastava said that a total of 50.55 million passengers traveled in the mandal, which is more than 44.98 million and 24.66 percent more than 40.55 million passengers of the previous year. Passenger revenue was Rs 1,004.86 crore during this period, which is 20.80 percent more than the previous year’s 831.84 crore. The total revenue also reached Rs 1,256.15 crore, which shows an increase of 21.93 percent as compared to Rs 1,030.25 crore last year. Not only this, Samastipur division has also recorded a remarkable achievement in parcel services, earning a revenue of 5.32 crores, which is 21 percent more than the previous year.
He said that Mandal managed 45.56 lakh passengers from 5 to 15 November 2024 after Chhath Puja, which is 172.32 percent higher than the 16.73 lakh passengers of the previous year. Not only this, during Mahakumbh, from January 8 to February 27, Mandal provided a smooth visit to 139.22 lakh passengers, giving revenue of Rs 115.1 crore. During this time 37 special trains were operated for the convenience of passengers. Apart from this, 2,660 passengers traveled through mobile UTS booking, earning revenue of Rs 5.51 lakh.
