New Delhi, 13 June (IANS). Auto components maker Sona Commentar said on Friday that Sanjay Kapoor was a visionary leader who made tireless efforts for the manufacturing and mobility sectors of India.

Bollywood’s famous actress Karishma Kapoor’s ex -husband and businessman Sanjay Kapoor died of a heart attack on Thursday. On June 12, Sanjay breathed his last at the age of 53 in England.

Sanjay Kapoor, leading auto component manufacturer Sona BLW was the Chairman and Non-Focetry Director of the Prisons Forgings Limited (Sona Commentar).

The company said in a statement released on the social media platform ‘X’, “We are announcing the untimely demise of Sanjay J Kapoor, chairman and non-executive director of Sona Comment with great grief. He died on June 12, 2025 due to a sudden heart attack in England, UK. He was 53 years old.”

Describing Kapoor as a visionary leader, the company said that he played an important role in making Global Mobility Technology Company based on innovation, sustainability and purpose.

The company said in the post, “The continuous commitment to his passion, foresight and excellence inspired all those who got the privilege of working with him. Camphor beyond his professional achievements was a dedicated father, a guide to many people and a ‘tireless advocate’ for manufacturing and mobility sectors of India.

The statement said that there is deep mourning about his death in the industry and gold family.

The company said that information about the tribute meeting to be held in memory of Sanjay Kapoor will be shared soon.

Sanjay Kapoor took the role of Managing Director of Gurugram -based Sona comstar in 2015 after his father’s death and later became the chairman. The company supplies important parts including electric vehicles (EV) traction motors and starter motors.

Kapoor posted on X about the Air India accident in Ahmedabad a few hours before his death.

He wrote in his last post, “The news that scared the tragic Air India accident in Ahmedabad. My condolences and prayers are with all the affected families. They get strength in this difficult hour.”

Kapoor first married Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, with whom she has two children, daughter’s name is Adhara and son’s name is Qian.

In 2016, Sanjay and Karishma got divorced. Kapoor later married Priya Sachdev, with whom he has a son Azarius.
