New Delhi, 1 June (IANS). The Union Minister of Part, Ship Transport and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal will go on a five -day official visit to Norway and Denmark from June 2 to strengthen marine relations.
The visit is strategically important, as the Union Minister will lead the delegation of Team India, which will include senior officials of the Central and State Governments as well as major private sector companies.
Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Maritime sector is the cornerstone of economic development and national development. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has not only become the fourth largest economy in the world, but is also working towards securing its place as a major maritime nation.”
He added, “As we are moving towards realizing the vision of Modi ji’s developed India by 2047, it is important that we bring out the entire capacity of our blue economy, which provides immense opportunities in business, connectivity, clean energy and innovation.”
During the visit, the ship will address the “High-Level Meeting on Ocens” held in the 60th edition of the Non-Shipping Program at Oslo and will inaugurate the ‘India Pavilion’.
Apart from this, he will preside over the ‘India @ Nor-Shipping’ Country Sessions and will organize a global outreach for ‘India Maritime Week 2025’ to be held in Mumbai on 27-31 October 2025.
The Union Ministers will hold bilateral meetings with their ministerial colleagues from Japan and Norway in the nun-shipping program and will meet with major European shipping companies, component manufacturers and technology developers. During this, Union Minister will also visit Oslo Port Authority.
According to the information given by the government, “India Pavilion ‘includes a dedicated section of the’ National Maritime Heritage Complex ‘, which will introduce global representatives to India’s 5000 -year -old maritime civilization and worldwide maritime relations.
On this tour, under the leadership of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the Ministry of Port, Ship Transport and Waterways (MOPSW), Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB), Karnataka Meritime Board (KMB), Andhra Pradesh Government Economic Development Board, Andhra Pradesh Government, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, Andhra Pradesh Government Tamil Nadu and India’s major big and senior officials of MSME Shipyards will also go.
