Asian markets traded mixed after the US Federal Reserve’s hopes of cutting interest rates in September and fresh economic data, while the US stock market closed with strong gains last week.
Earlier on Friday, the Indian stock market benchmark Nifty 50 hit a new record high, extending its gains for the 12th consecutive session. The Sensex closed 231.16 points or 0.28 per cent higher at 82,365.77, while the Nifty 50 closed 83.95 points or 0.33 per cent higher at 25,235.90.

Asian markets: Asian markets traded mixed. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 0.1 percent. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.94 percent. While, the Topix gained 0.49 percent. South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.49 percent and the Kosdaq fell marginally. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index indicated a lower opening.
GIFT Nifty Today: GIFT Nifty was trading around 25,420 levels, with a premium of around 22 points over the previous close of Nifty futures. This indicates a mildly positive opening for the Indian stock market indices.
Wall Street: The US stock market Dow Jones closed at an all-time high level for the second consecutive day on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.55 percent to 41,563.08, while the S&P 500 rose 1.01 percent to close at 5,648.40. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1.13 percent to close at 17,713.62.
