Major global signals for Sensex today
Asian markets: Asian markets were mostly trading lower following overnight losses on Wall Street. Japan’s Nikkei 225 lost 0.75%, while the Topix fell 0.88%. South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.61% and Kosdaq fell 0.14%. Chinese markets jumped more than 10% at the open after returning from a long holiday. The CSI 300 index rallied 10.2%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell more than 3%.
GIFT Nifty: GIFT Nifty was trading around 24,860 levels, about 130 points lower than the previous close of Nifty futures, indicating an extremely poor start for the Indian stock market.
Wall Street: US stock markets closed in the red on Monday due to decline in tech stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 398.51 points, or 0.94%, to 41,954.24, while the S&P lost 55.13 points, or 0.96%, at 5,695.94. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 213.94 points, or 1.18%, to 17,923.90.
