How will the stock market move today
Asian markets: Asian markets traded lower on Monday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 leading the losses in the region. The Nikkei fell 3.02%, slipping below 36,000 points for the first time since August 13, while the Topix declined 2.84%. South Korea’s Kospi dropped 1.99% and the Kosdaq dropped 1.72%.
GIFT Nifty: GIFT Nifty was trading around 24,832 levels, down around 80 points from the previous close of Nifty futures, indicating a negative opening for the Indian stock market.
Wall Street: US stocks closed lower on Friday. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones had their biggest weekly declines since March 2023, with the Nasdaq posting its biggest weekly decline since January 2022.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 410.34 points, or 1.01%, to 40,345.41, while the S&P 500 dropped 94.99 points, or 1.73%, to 5,408.42. The Nasdaq Composite dived 436.83 points, or 2.55%, to 16,690.83.
