Farmer Shekhar Yadav of Sahelian village of Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh is earning big money from radish cultivation. Shekhar cultivates radish every year. Due to this, they earn Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 in one crop.
Low cost and big profit in radish cultivation
While talking to Local 18, Shekhar said that he mostly cultivates vegetables. The reason for this is that vegetables have higher profits. At present we have radish planted in about two bighas. There is always demand for radish in the market. If we look at the cost of this farming, it is very low. Profit is high. Shekhar told that if we talk about cost, one bigha costs Rs 2,000. The profit in this reaches around Rs 60,000 to 70,000. For radish cultivation, first of all it is plowed 3 to 4 times. Then after removing weeds from the field, a thick line of soil is made. Radish seeds are sown above these lines. Irrigation starts about a week after the plants emerge.

Although in India, many varieties of radish are grown at different places according to the soil and climate. But among the varieties which give good production in short time, varieties like Pusa Himani, Pusa Desi, Pusa Chetki, Pusa Reshmi, Japanese White and Ganesh Synthetic etc. can be grown in Asian soil.
