New Delhi, 25 June (IANS). Union Railway and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Wednesday that this financial year made a great start with mobile exports from India and in May, mobile exports from the country were more than $ 3.09 billion.
In this financial year, mobile exports worth $ 5.5 billion were exported from the country during the April-May period.
Government schemes such as production-linked incentive (PLI) initiative have promoted domestic manufacturing in recent years, with global technical giants like Apple and Samsung, doubling on increasing their supply chains in the country.
According to Union Minister Vaishnav, the export of mobile phones from India in May has increased by more than 74 percent compared to the same month of last year.
The Union Minister posted on the social media platform X, “FY 2026 was strong: In May alone, a 3 billion dollar smartphone exported, which was an increase of more than 74 percent on an annual basis. April-May recorded an export of $ 5.5 billion and an electronics export of $ 8.2 billion in April-May, which was 47 percent increase on an annual basis.
This great growth has been achieved because India’s competitive lead makes the country a natural option for technical giants such as Apple. In addition, the US -based company has assured the government to manufacture its products and promote ‘Make in India’ initiative.
According to the Union Minister Vaishnav, electronics exports from India have moved from fifth position to third place due to the transformational PLI scheme.
Electronics exports in FY 2025 reached an all -time high of Rs 3.27 lakh crore, while mobile exports stood at Rs 2 lakh crore.
Union Minister Vaishnav recently stated, “Electronics exports have moved from fifth place to third place in a financial year. Electronics is the fastest growing exports in India’s top 10 exports for three consecutive years.”
He further said that millions of new jobs have been created in electronics ecosystem, especially for women.
The Electronics Manufacturing Industry has registered a five -fold increase in the last 10 years, which has crossed Rs 11 lakh crore, while the entire ecosystem has created 25 lakh jobs.
Electronics exports have increased by six times to Rs 3.25 lakh crore in the last decade.
The country has shown the importance of “Make in India” to big companies like Apple. In recent years, the country has become a major center for Apple’s global supply chain.
