New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) laid the foundation stone of its new manufacturing plant in Haryana on Tuesday, with an annual capacity of producing 7.5 lakh units in the first phase before the initial investment of about Rs 1,200 crore.
This plant located in the Industrial Township IMT Kharkhauda developed by Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) is in line with the government’s approach to attract global investment and generate employment in the region.
Production at this plant will start in 2027, which will increase the production capabilities of SMIPL in India. The company said in a statement that once it is operational, it will provide employment to about 2,000 people.
SMIPL managing director Kenichi Umda said, “Laying the foundation stone of its second manufacturing plant in India, not only growing as a brand but also reflects our focus when growing with people and communities of India.”
He said that by setting up our plant in IMT Kharkhauda, we are ready to contribute to the development of the region, generate employment and support the government’s approach to industrial progress.
The new plant will also have modern automation and energy-efficient systems, which will help us move towards Suzuki’s global approach for carbon neutral and sustainability.
The feature extends on 100 acres, with the manufacturing unit initially extending 25 acres and an additional 25 acres for the green region, which reflects the growing focus on the company’s sustainable development.
SMIPL started operating in India in February 2006 with its manufacturing plant at Kherki Daula in Gurugram. The company currently produces scooters (125 cc) and premium motorcycles (150 cc and more).
This new manufacturing facility is a part of SMIPL’s strategy to meet the growing demand for its products in the Indian market, as well as support local development and employment generation.
