Mumbai, March 15 (IANS). The board of Tata Communications Limited approved the appointment of N. Ganpati Subramaniam as the chairman of the board of directors of Tata Communications Limited.
Subramaniam joined the board of Tata Communications Limited on 2 December 2021 as a non-executive director.
He has been a part of Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) and Indian IT industry for more than 40 years.
He resigned from the post of Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of TCS in May 2024.
Tata Communications announced that the company’s board of directors on the basis of nomination and recommendation of the remuneration committee, from March 14, 2025 as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company. Ganpati Subramaniam has been appointed as non-executive, non-independent director.
The company said in a statement, “They have played a strategic role in several historical initiatives launched by TCS globally in banking, telecom and public service.”
According to the company’s statement, “They have deep understanding and knowledge about technology, operation, product development, business transformation and change management.”
Currently, N. Ganpati Subramaniam is also holding the post of Chairman of the Board and Non-Executive Director in Tata Alexi Limited, Chairman of the Board and Non-Executive Director in Tejas Network Limited, the President of the Governing Council of India 6G Alliance.
In addition, he is a member of the Institute Body at ‘Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology’ and is the chairman of the Executive Committee in ‘The Society for the Rehabilitation of Cripped Children’, ‘
The Tata Communications recorded a consolidated net profit of Rs 236 crore for the quarter ended December 2024, showing a great growth of 424 percent on an annual basis.
The company’s net profit was Rs 45 crore in the same quarter last year.
In a regulatory filing, the company said that its revenue from operations was Rs 5,798 crore in the quarter ended December 2024, which was a 3.8 percent increase on an annual basis. The company’s revenue from operations in the same period of 2023-24 was Rs 5,587.78 crore.
The net profit of Tata Communications saw a 4 percent increase in the October-December quarter compared to the previous quarter, which was Rs 227 crore in the July-September quarter.
Revenue also saw an increase of 1.2 percent in the third quarter compared to the second quarter of the current financial year.
