Mumbai, June 1 (IANS). Tata Motors said on Sunday that in May 2025 for domestic and international markets, the company’s sales have been reduced by 8.6 percent on an annual basis.
According to the statement released by Tata Motors, “In May 2025, the company has sold 70,187 units of vehicles, the figure was 76,766 units in the same period last year.”
The company’s total sales in the domestic market have fallen 10 percent to 67,429 units on an annual basis, which was 75,173 units in May 2024.
Sales of commercial vehicles of the company also declined. In May 2025, the company sold 28,147 units of commercial vehicles, which is 5 percent less than 29,691 units of the same period of a year ago.
The domestic sales of moderate and heavy commercial vehicles (trucks and buses) in the commercial vehicle segment were 12,406 units in May 2025, which is a slightly lower than 12,987 units recorded in May 2024.
However, if exports are merged, the total sales of moderate and heavy commercial vehicles have improved slightly, which has increased from 13,532 units to 13,614 units a year ago.
These figures include the performance of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, both Tata Motors Limited.
Tata Motors’ performance was weak in the fourth quarter of FY 25. During the January-March period, the company’s consolidated net profit fell 51 percent to Rs 8,470 crore on an annual basis, which was Rs 17,407 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year.
The company’s total income for the March quarter stood at Rs 1,21,012 crore, which was slightly more than Rs 1,20,431 crore for the same period of a year ago.
However, the performance of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) during this period was strong in North America and Europe.
