Technology can increase the country’s growth rate by 2 to 3 percent, will have to invest on skills: NITI Aayog CEO

New Delhi, March 5 (IANS). NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam said that technology can increase our growth rate by 2 to 3 percent and we have to invest more to increase skills.

To make India a tech-centric country, NITI Aayog has launched the Policy Frontier Tech Hub (Policy-FTH), which will be the Frontier Tech Action Tank.

It aims to enable the country to enhance advanced technology innovation and its use for sharp economic and social development in the direction of developed India. At the same time, by furthering the development and adoption of emerging technology that benefits humanity and environment, it is to support India’s human-focused approach worldwide.

Talking to Subrahmanyam IANS, he said that in today’s time, technology that shakes the world is coming out. This includes Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum and Biological.

We can use them in person – education, employment or finding jobs.

Apart from this, he said that these technology can also be used in agriculture, manufacturing and government. This will increase both our capacity and efficiency and will also speed up development.

Subrahmanyam said that at present we are the fifth largest economy in the world and in the coming years we will be the third largest economy after America, China. Accordingly, we have to take a lead in technology as well.

Subrahmanyam further said that the government’s focus is about developing human-focused technology, how technology improves the life of the common man and life will be easy with increasing income.
