New Delhi, 18 May (IANS). Karnataka Commerce and Industry Minister MB Patil recently informed that Taiwan’s Electronics Manufacturing Foxconn is almost ready for the launch of Foxconn in Bengaluru. Along with this, the shipment of commercial iPhone is expected to begin in early June.

The country is now on the path of ‘Make in India’ initiative globally. According to reports, technology giant Apple may shift the entire assembly of the iPhone to India by next year.

According to Patil, “Devanhalli is almost ready for the launch of Foxconn in ITIR and the commercial iPhone shipment is expected to begin in early June.”

In a post on social media platform X, he said that it is not just a milestone of manufacturing.

The Minister of State said, “This is a strategic change. As the geopolitical and tariff pressure increases, India is rapidly becoming a favorite production center of Apple. This development strengthens the status of Karnataka in global manufacturing and opens the doors of more foreign investment without compromising the interests of stakeholders.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that most of the iPhones sold in the US will be made in India for the June quarter.

Patil said, “As a Kannada person, it is a proud moment. From Mysore to Cupertino, Karnataka is making global headlines.”

According to Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, India is now achieving Make in India globally. Apple contract manufacturers in India are already expanding their operations.

Foxconn’s new plant in Bengaluru can produce 20 million iPhones at full capacity.

Apple’s manufacturing power in India is already impressive. Last year, $ 22 billion iPhone assembled in India, with Tamil Nadu -based Foxconn contributed about 50 percent to Apple’s exports.

Exports have increased by more than 40 percent from the Foxconn factory compared to the same period last year.

Today, Apple is about 20 percent of the total iPhone production worldwide in India, showing how important the country has become for the global plans of the brand.

The Indian market is also seeing a strong growth for Apple. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, more than three million iPhones were sent from India, making a new record.
