America-China
The talk between the US and China regarding the trade deal in Geneva does not seem to be talked about. On Sunday, the two countries resumed talks on fees related issues, but there is a clear difference in the opinion of both sides regarding the current situation of discussion. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump claimed on social media that “significant progress” in the conversation was making. However, there is no official response from China so far. The government news agency of Beijing has taken a tough stance, saying that China will strongly reject any proposal that compromises its basic principles or weakens the broader goal of global equality. The conversation in Geneva has entered its second and last day on Monday.
Trump did not give any details
Despite this, US President Donald Trump said on social media on Sunday that “big progress” in the talks, although he did not share any additional details in this regard. White house officials have also given limited information about the talks. The entire dialogue process has been kept confidential, and when both sides returned after conversation on Saturday, they did not talk to the media.
The objective of this conversation is to reduce long -running trade disputes between the two largest economies of the US and the world, which has increased uncertainty in global markets. The US side is headed by Finance Minister Scott Besant and Business Representative Zamison Greer, while the talks from China are led by Vice Premier Lifeng.
Results are less expected to emerge
Although no major agreement is being expected immediately from this dialogue, it is being estimated that the two countries can cut a huge fee on certain goods. If this happens, it will provide relief to global financial markets and will also benefit companies whose trade is dependent on the US and China.
Significantly, China also retaliated after US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose high duty on imports, causing a trade war situation between the two countries. In April, after Trump increased the fee, China also announced a fee on American goods. Currently, the duty imposed by the US on some products coming from China has reached 145 percent, while China has imposed a fee of up to 125 percent on imported goods from the US.
