New Delhi, 30 May (IANS). IndiaAI Mission has listed around 16,000 additional graphics processing units (GPU) in the second round, increasing the number of GPUs available under the mission to more than 34,300. This will help in increasing the country’s AI ecosystem. This information was given by Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav on Friday.
The Union Minister said in the program of IndiaAI Mission that we have made a lot of progress in the last year and a half. We have completed the second phase of listing GPU and the third phase will also be completed soon and after that a lot of GPUs will be added.
He further said, “It is very important that technology should not be left in the hands of some people. A large section of the society should have access to the technology, they should be able to develop new solutions and get better opportunities. This is the objective with which the India AI Mission was introduced.”
The IndiaAI mission, launched with a budget of Rs 10,372 crore in March 2024, is aiming to build a strong and inclusive AI ecosystem through seven major columns.
Its seven columns include scalable GPU-based compute infrastructure, indigenous foundational model development, access to quality datasets, sector specific AI applications, apasting through AI Lab, funding for deep-tech startup and moral, strong security measures for responsible, responsible AI Project.
In the program, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, IndiaAI Mission also announces 10 startups for ‘IndiaAI Startups Global Initiative’. This is an important step towards advancing India’s AI capabilities globally. ‘IndiaAI Startups Global Initiative’ is an international program in partnership with Station F, Paris and HEC Paris.
The Union Minister said, “India’s AI Ecosystem is now at the peak of global success. Through such initiatives, we are able to enter our best startups, make global alliances, create a global alliance and create an impressive, impressive solutions. Station F and HEC Partnership with Paris is a new study in India’s Innovation Diplomacy.”
