On this day, elections will be held for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly and counting of votes will take place on 23 November. Therefore, trading on both BSE and NSE exchanges will remain closed on November 20. Although the stock market is closed every Saturday and Sunday, apart from this the market also remains closed on some other public holidays. According to data available on BSE, Wednesday, November 20, is a trading holiday in all equity segments, equity derivatives segment, SLB segment, currency derivatives segment, NDS-RST, tri-party repo, commodity derivatives segment, electronic gold receipts (EGR) segment.
Which segments will not be traded on NSE
November 20 is a holiday for Equities, Equity Derivatives, Commodity Derivatives, Corporate Bonds, New Debt Segments and Negotiated Trade Reporting Platform segments on NSE. At the same time, there is no holiday in mutual funds, security lending and borrowing schemes, currency derivatives and interest rate derivatives segments.

For the rest of the year 2024, apart from Saturdays and Sundays after 20th November, the stock markets will now remain closed on 25th December on the occasion of Christmas. Earlier on November 15, there was a holiday in the stock markets on Guru Nanak Jayanti.
How was the market behavior on 14th November?
The trend of decline in local stock markets continued on Thursday 14 November. The market declined amid ongoing selling by foreign institutional investors, quarterly results of companies not being as per expectations and rising inflation. The BSE Sensex fell for the third consecutive day and closed at 77,580.31, down 110.64 points or 0.14 per cent. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also closed at 23,532.70, down 26.35 points or 0.11 percent. Nifty declined for the sixth consecutive day.
Among the 30 Sensex stocks, Hindustan Unilever, NTPC, Nestle, IndusInd Bank, Power Grid, Adani Ports, Tata Motors and Bajaj Finserv were mainly among the losers. At the same time, gains were registered in Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra and HDFC Bank.
