The NPCI has announced the new UPI rules that come into effect from 1 August 2025, under which boundaries can be imposed on balance checking, autope, status request and API requests. What will be the change?

Security of linked account will increase
With the help of new updates, a strict process will also have to be followed to add a new bank account to UPI from now on. This is a bit difficult, but safe UPI is necessary for payment and prevention of fraud. Some other information can also be sought to add an account, which will verify the bank account.
Limit to balance
The balance check of the bank account in UPI is also done daily. Now NPCI has also banned this. It will also be limited to prevent overloading problem and a daily balance will be checked under a certain limit. Actually, this will control the misuse of the situation.
Autope transaction time
If you use autope service, now there is a deadline for making any changes. As part of changes in facilities like OTT subscription, rent agreement or SIP, you will have to send this request between August 1 to 12 noon to 7 am. This will reduce traffic on the server and work will be done correctly. Next, information will be received only in busy times from 5 pm to 9:30 pm.

To avoid any kind of inconvenience, people will have to update their UPI app before 1 August so that new features or boundaries work properly. Users who have turned on autope facilities can ensure that their recurring payment settings in line with new rules.
