Amravati Airport has received an airport license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Alliance Air will operate flights to Mumbai by the end of this month at the end of this month. According to PTI news, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave this information on Thursday. The Amravati Airport located in Belora was initially developed by the Public Works Department in 1992, but it was non-conductable for public use.
Airport renovated
According to the news, the state -run Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) renovated the airport with extended runways and second upgrade to meet licensing needs. The initiative was part of the Maharashtra government’s widespread attempt to expand its aviation infrastructure, including the airports of Chandrapur, Dhule, Shirdi and Navi Mumbai.
Flights on Amravati-Mumbai-Amravati route this month
In a post on X, Fadnavis said that providing airport license is a milestone that cleanses the way for commercial flights from Amravati, which promotes regional contact and economic possibilities. He said that Alliance Air is ready to start flights on the Amravati-Mumbai-Amravati route by the end of this month, which will be the first scheduled operation of the airport. MADC Managing Director Swati Pandey symbolically assigned the DGCA certification to the Chief Minister.
323 routes currently operational under flight scheme
Giving information a few days ago, the government had said that out of 619 routes launched under the Regional Affairs Scheme ‘Udaan’, 323 routes are currently operational. The flight launched in 2016 (the common citizen of the flying country) scheme aims to add various cities as well as to make air travel economical. The government aims to make India a global aviation center by 2030. Special emphasis has been laid on Civil Aviation (Civil Aviation) in the Union Budget 2025-26.
