New Delhi. If you come to know about the loss of 63 crores of a particular train, then you may not believe it at first and you will be forced to think. But this is completely true. Actually, the operation of Tejas trains was handed over to the private operators by the Indian Railways three years ago. This was the first time that the Railways used this. But this experiment of railways could not be successful. Presently Tejas trains are operated from Delhi to Lucknow and Mumbai to Ahmedabad. Both these trains have run into huge losses. Tejas running from Delhi to Lucknow via Kanpur Central is currently in loss of 27.52 crores. Actually, due to less number of passengers traveling in this train, the train is running in loss. Due to this, the fares of Tejas have also been reduced.
Reasons for empty seats in the train
Two main reasons have been given for the vacant seats in the train. The first is that Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains run in front of Tejas Express. Passengers in both these trains have good facilities and their fare is also less than Tejas. In such a situation, people book Tejas tickets only if they do not get tickets in Rajdhani / Shatabdi. In view of the continuous damage caused by the train along with the private operators, the Railway Ministry has refused the decision to give any other train to the private operator for the time being.
when was the loss
After the corona epidemic, the frequency of Tejas was increased or decreased. It was temporarily closed 5 times between 2019 and 2022 due to less number of passengers. This train going from Lucknow to New Delhi route had a profit of 2.33 crores in 2019-20. After this, at the time of COVID, there has been a loss of 16.69 crores in 2020-21 and 8.50 crores in 2021-22.
