New Delhi, 30 May (IANS). Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that 10 percent of the Global Economy contributes to the tourism sector and I am sure that under the global parameters, our tourism sector by 2030 will also contribute 10 percent to the country’s GDP. We are working fast on this vision.
In the CII ‘Annual Business Summit 2025’ in the national capital, the Union Minister said that since the Korona crisis in India, there has been a tremendous rise in domestic tourism.
He said, “Infrastructure Creation was the first need to promote India’s tourism sector and increase the capacity of the country globally. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, roads, expressways and one and a half million kilometers of highways were built in the country, new Modern Railway Infrastructure was prepared. New airports were built.”
He added, “However, many works are still yet to be done. The number of flights needs to be increased. 3,000 aircraft are coming in future. The increasing number of aircrafts is indicating that the world’s view of seeing India is changing.”
Union Minister Shekhawat said, “The rapidly growing tourist sector of the country is moving forward as fast as our economy is developing. 25 crore people came out of the poverty line and came to the middle class. With these people coming in the middle class, the number of tourists increased. This is because a middle class man spends some money on the religious journey after getting out of the house and spends some money on the rapidly.”
He cited the data of Shri Mahakal temple in Ujjain, saying, “In the first year, 10 lakh people used to reach this temple, while now 10 lakh people are going to this place in only one week.”
He stressed, “This is not only the increased number of Mahakal’s corridor, but shows millions of people to get out of poverty.”
Union Minister Shekhawat described Prasad and Swadesh Darshan Yojana as important for the development of the tourism sector.
He said, “Tourism and Spiritual Tourism were separated by separating two verticals and brought Prasad and Swadesh Darshan Yojana. Surveys show that under these two schemes, the experience of passengers at sites has improved.”
