TRAI’s big Action Against fake Callers: Telecom regulator TRAI has taken strict action against unwanted callers and has closed more than 2.75 lakh mobile numbers.
Along with this, the services of more than 50 organizations violating the rules have been stopped and they have been put in the blacklist.
Last month, TRAI had given strict instructions to all telecom service provider companies to immediately stop promotional calls from unregistered Tele-Marketing Companies. After this, the telecom companies have taken this step.
They have blacklisted more than 50 firms and seized over Rs 2.75 lakh SIP DID/ mobile numbers / telecom resources have been blocked. These steps are expected to reduce fake calls and provide relief to consumers.
TRAI said that there has been a significant increase in spam calls in the first half of 2024.
Between January and June this year, more than 7.9 lakh complaints were received against unregistered telemarketing companies. Taking this seriously, the regulator issued strict instructions to all telecom service providers on August 13, 2024 and asked to immediately rein in unregistered companies.
