New Delhi. Last week, the market capitalization (m-Cap) of eight of the top-10 most valuable companies of the Sensex collectively registered an increase of Rs 1,21,270.83 crore. During this period, Reliance Industries was the biggest gainer, while ICICI Bank and Hindustan Unilever suffered losses. Last week, the 30-share BSE Sensex had gained 1,027.54 points or 1.21 percent. On Friday, Sensex had touched its all-time high of 85,978.25 points, which created a positive atmosphere in the market.
Record market capitalization of Reliance Industries
In the week under review, the market valuation of Reliance Industries increased by a huge Rs 53,652.92 crore to reach Rs 20,65,197.60 crore. Moreover, the market cap of State Bank of India increased by Rs 18,518.57 crore to Rs 7,16,333.98 crore, which is a pleasant sign for the shareholders of the company.
Airtel and ITC also in profit
Bharti Airtel also made a profit of Rs 13,094.52 crore, taking its market valuation to Rs 9,87,904.63 crore. ITC’s market capitalization increased by Rs 9,927.3 crore to Rs 6,53,834.72 crore, pointing to a strong position for the company’s future.
Growth in IT sector also
Among the major companies in the IT sector, the market capitalization of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) increased by Rs 8,592.96 crore to Rs 15,59,052 crore. At the same time, the market valuation of HDFC Bank increased by Rs 8,581.64 crore to reach Rs 13,37,186.93 crore. Besides, the market valuation of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) rose by Rs 8,443.87 crore to Rs 6,47,616.51 crore. Infosys’ market cap increased marginally by Rs 459.05 crore to Rs 7,91,897.44 crore.
Loss to ICICI Bank and Hindustan Unilever
However, contrary to this positive trend, the market valuation of ICICI Bank declined by Rs 23,706.16 crore to Rs 9,20,520.72 crore. Similarly, the market capitalization of Hindustan Unilever also declined by Rs 3,195.44 crore to Rs 6,96,888.77 crore.
Ranking of top-10 companies
At the end of the week, Reliance Industries remained at the first position in the list of top-10 most valuable companies. It was followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, Hindustan Unilever, ITC and LIC respectively.
