Unemployment rate was 14.4 percent in women in 15-29 age group
The unemployment rate calculated on monthly basis for the first time in the country was 5.1 percent in April 2025. This information was given in the government data released on Thursday. The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation released the first monthly periodic labor force survey (PLSF) in real time as part of efforts to monitor the ratio of unemployed people for jobs in the country. Earlier, Labor Force Survey was released on quarter and annual basis.
5.2 percent of men’s unemployment rate
The data collected in the current weekly status (CWS) showed that the unemployment rate of people in each age group during April 2025 was 5.1 percent. Unemployment rate in men was 5.2 percent and 5.0 percent in women. During this period, unemployment rate among people in 15-29 age group across the country was 13.8 percent. The unemployment rate in urban areas was 17.2 percent, while in rural areas it was 12.3 percent. CWS refers to the prescribed activity situation in 7 days before the date of the survey.

The study also revealed that the unemployment rate among women aged 15-29 was 14.4 percent (rural and urban) across the country, while in cities it was 23.7 and 10.7 percent in villages. Unemployment rate was recorded at 13.6 percent in men aged 15-29 years in the country, while it was 15 percent in cities and 13 percent in villages. Statistics showed that the labor force participation rate (LFPR) was 55.6 percent during April, 2025. The participation rate in rural areas was 58.0 percent while in urban areas it was 50.7 percent.
How LFPR figures live in rural and urban areas
In rural and urban areas, LFPR was 79.0 percent and 75.3 percent respectively in men aged 15 and above. During April 2025, the rate of labor force participation in women aged 15 years and above in rural areas was 38.2 percent. The LFPR refers to the percentage of individuals involved in the labor force (ie working, working, seeker or available for work). Labor Population Ratio (WPR) defines the ratio of people working in the total population.
