New Delhi, October 3 (IANS). The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday approved 78 days of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) amounting to Rs 2,028.57 crore to 11,72,240 railway employees.
This amount will be given to different categories of railway employees.
Payment of PLB serves as an incentive to the Railway employees to work towards improving the performance of the Railways.
“PLB to eligible railway employees is paid every year before the Durga Puja/Dussehra holidays. This year too, about 11.72 lakh non-gazetted railway employees will be paid PLB amount equivalent to 78 days’ pay,” the cabinet release said. is being paid.”
The maximum amount payable per eligible railway employee is Rs 17,951 for 78 days.
In 2023-2024, Indian Railways is expected to load a record 1,588 million tonnes of freight and carry around 6.7 billion passengers.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to the existing Productivity Linked Reward (PLR) Scheme for employees/workers of Major Ports and Dock Labor Boards from 2020-21 to 2025-26.
The revised scheme (implemented from 2020-21 to 2025-26) will benefit 20,704 employees of major port authorities and Dock Labor Board employees with an outlay of approximately Rs 200 crore.
PLR for calculating bonus has been calculated at the salary limit of Rs 7,000 per month.
According to the Cabinet, PLR will be paid annually by increasing the port specific performance weighting from 50 per cent to 55 per cent and then to 60 per cent.
The all-India port performance burden will also reduce by 40 per cent over the period up to 2025-26, the government said.
This PLR scheme will promote better industrial relations and conducive work environment in the port sector besides encouraging better productivity.
