The Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Science (Independent Charge) Jitendra Singh expressed happiness when India became the fourth largest economy in the world, and said on Sunday that the country led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a sharp and big jump towards developed India.
The Union Minister’s statement came after the official confirmation that India has become the fourth largest economy in the world, leaving behind Japan.
On this historical achievement, Union Minister Jitendra Singh wrote on the social media platform X, “Thank you to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making it possible.”
It has been confirmed by NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam that India has now become the fourth largest economy in the world after beating Japan.
Subrahmanyam said at the press conference of the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, “When I am speaking, we are the fourth largest economy in the world and 4 trillion US dollar GDP and it is not my data. It is IMF data. Today India is a bigger economy than Japan.”
Subrahmanyam said, “Only the United States, China and Germany are bigger than us and if we stay on it, India will become the third largest economy in the next 2, 2.5 to 3 years.”
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said in the World Economic Outlook April 2025 that India’s nominal GDP would increase to $ 4,187.017 billion in 2025. At the same time, Japan’s GDP is estimated to be $ 4,186.431 billion.
According to IMF estimates, India can also become the third largest economy in the world by beating Germany in the coming years. By 2027, India’s economy may cross the $ 5 trillion mark and during this time the size of GDP is estimated to be $ 5,069.47 billion. At the same time, India’s GDP size will be $ 5,584.476 billion by 2028, while Germany’s GDP size is estimated to be $ 5,251.928 billion during this period.
According to the IMF, in 2025 the US will remain the world’s largest economy with a size of $ 30,507.217 billion. At the same time, China will be the second largest economy with $ 19,231.705 billion.
