New Delhi, January 1 (IANS). The number of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) transactions rose 8 percent month-on-month to a new record high of 16.73 billion in December. This information has been received from the data of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Wednesday.
The value of UPI transactions has increased by 8 percent to Rs 23.25 lakh crore in December, which was Rs 21.55 lakh crore in November.
The number of UPI transactions for the entire 2024 is expected to increase by nearly 46 percent to 172 billion compared to 118 billion in 2023.
During this period, the value of UPI transactions has increased by 35 percent to Rs 247 lakh crore, which was Rs 183 lakh crore in 2023.
The number of UPI transactions has increased by 39 percent and value by 28 percent on an annual basis.
The average number of daily transactions has increased to 54 crore in December, which was 51.6 crore in November. Average daily value transactions through UPI in December were Rs 74,990 crore, compared to Rs 71,840 crore in November.
Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) transactions rose 8 percent to 441 million in December, compared to 408 million in November.
In December, IMPS transactions were worth Rs 6.02 lakh crore, while in November it was Rs 5.58 lakh crore.
According to NPCI data, Fastag transactions increased by 6 percent to 38.2 crore in December, compared to 35.9 crore in November.
The value of Fastag transactions also increased by 9 percent to Rs 6,642 crore in December, compared to Rs 6,070 crore in November.
Apart from this, the number of Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) transactions has increased by 1 percent from 9.2 crore in November to 9.3 crore in December.
UPI is currently accepted in France, UAE, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Bhutan and Nepal.
