UPI will be closed on these numbers from April 1, big change in banking services

Banking and Digital Payment Services: Banking and Digital Payment Services (Banking and digital payment services) There is going to be a significant change for users associated with April 1.

On the instructions of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), banks, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and other UPI services will start the process of removing inactive mobile numbers.

Reason for change

Banks and digital payment services are going to remove those mobile numbers that were not used in any way for 90 days.

If a number is not active for Voice Call, SMS or mobile data, it will be considered inactive and can be recycle and given to another user.

In this situation, old user information needs to be removed from banking and payment services, preventing possible disturbances in transactions.

Which services will be affected?

This change will affect bank accounts, UPI transactions and digital payments apps. If a user’s registered number is inactive and is not updated, then UPI transactions, OTP verification and other bank -related services may be discontinued.

Necessary steps to avoid interruption in transaction

Check the mobile number registered in the bank account and UPI app.
If the number is changed, update it to banks and apps as soon as possible.
Keep the number active till 31 March for uninterrupted availability of UPI and banking services.
Confirm whether OTP and banking notifications are getting correctly on the new number.

NPCI has directed all banks and digital payments services to remove passive numbers by 31 March. Users are advised to update their mobile number as soon as possible so that no inconvenience in future.
