The central government is taking all the necessary steps according to its capacity to curb pollution. There has been a new update to scrap the vehicles that spread more pollution. The Ministry of Transport, Government of India has issued a proposal to double the outright tax exemption on the purchase of new vehicles to 50 percent after removing vehicles with emission standards BS-2 and earlier. Currently, after buying a new vehicle after junk of old private vehicles, motor vehicle tax is given a 25 percent discount, while in case of commercial vehicles this exemption is limited to 15 percent.

Government in preparing to give 50 percent discount on all trains

In a draft notification issued on 24 January, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that up to 50 percent discount will apply to all vehicles (both private and commercial) which are in line with BS-1 standard or before BS-1 standard is implemented. Maintains. According to the draft notification, this discount will be applicable to BS-2 trains under medium and heavy private and transport vehicles. BS-1 carbon emission standard for trains became mandatory in the year 2000, while BS-2 came into force from 2002.

Old vehicles are scrapped in a phased manner through RVSF and ATS across the country

The Ministry of Transport has made a voluntary vehicle modernization program (VVMP) or vehicle scraping through a network of registered vehicle scrapping facility (RVSF) and Automated Testing Station (ATS) to create an ecosystem to make an ecosystem to remove inappropriate polluting vehicles across the country in a phased manner. The policy has been launched. Currently, more than 60 registered vehicle scrapping facilities in 17 states/union territories in the country and more than 75 automated testing stations are employed in 12 states/union territories and many others are currently in process.
