The loss of telecom company Vodafone Idea (VIL) declined to Rs 6,609.3 crore in the third quarter. The debt -ridden telecom company achieved gradual increase in ARPU during the December quarter, which has helped the company to decrease the deficit. According to PTI news, revenue from operations during the October-December quarter stood at Rs 11,117.3 crore, which is 4 percent higher than the same period last year.
Customer Arpu in third quarter
According to the news, Vodafone Idea released the third quarter income and said that its 5G services in Mumbai are planned for April 2025 and in Delhi, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Patna for April. The deficit for the quarter stood at Rs 6,609.3 crore, while it was Rs 6,985.9 crore in the same period of a year ago. In the third quarter of the current financial year, customer ARPU (average revenue per user) – a major metric for all telecom companies – increased from Rs 166 to Rs 173 in the July -September period.
On a gradual basis, it shows an increase of 4.7 percent.
Phase wise rollout of 5G services is going on
Akshay Mundra, CEO of Vodafone Idea, said that the company is increasing investment and the pace of capital expenditure is going to rise in the coming quarters. Phase wise rollout of 5G services is going on, targeting major geographical areas. We are happy to report the highest quarter cash Ebitda 24.5 billion (Rs 2,450 crore) since the merger, which records an increase of about 15 percent on an annual basis. With our increasing investment, we expect further improvement in both operations and financial performances.
Government’s decision on bank guarantee waiver is important
Mundra said that the government’s decision on bank guarantee waiver is its constant support for the telecom sector. Vodafone Idea performed better on its third quarter scorecard in several cases. The deficit on a gradual basis was significantly lower than Rs 7,175.9 crore in the September 2024 quarter. Revenue increased by 1.7 percent on a quarterly basis. VIL said that the customer revenue increased by 1.6 percent compared to the previous quarter, which helped by the recent tariff increase by all private operators.
