New Delhi. Prithviraj Singh Oberoi, who was at the top of the Indian hospitality world and honorary chairman of Oberoi Group, has said goodbye to the world. He was the Executive Chairman of EIH Limited. He breathed his last at the age of 94. This has been confirmed by the spokesperson of Oberoi Group himself. Oberoi Group wrote on social media, “It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved leader, PRS Oberoi, Chairman Emeritus, has breathed his last today. His demise is a significant loss to the Oberoi Group and the hospitality industry in India and abroad”.
Prithviraj Singh Oberoi was a well-known name
Prithviraj Singh Oberoi’s name was a well-known name in the hotel industry. PRS Oberoi was born on February 3, 1929. His early education took place in India, while he went to the United Kingdom and Switzerland for further studies. After completing his studies, he joined the business of his father, the late Rai Bahadur MS Oberoi, founder of The Oberoi Group.

After which, under the guidance of his father, he took over the company and took the hotel industry to a new dimension. He emphasized on focusing more on hotel quality in hotel management and also worked on the development of the resort. Due to his commendable work, he was also given Padma Vibhushan. In 2008, PRS Oberoi was awarded the nation’s second highest civilian honour.

Apart from this, he has been honored with many awards including Businessman of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Awards, Lifetime Achievement Award at ILTM and Corporate Hotelier of the World Award.
