Railway News: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Saturday that the Center has no plans to privatize the railways. He said that there is a need for the Railways to adopt the latest technology to meet the aspirations of the passengers, especially in terms of safety and convenience.
Inaugurating digitally the 20th All India Conference of Indian Railway Mazdoor Sangh (BRMS) at ‘Rail Mandapam’ Perambur, Vaishnav said the technology should be indigenous like the contribution of Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Vande Bharat Express and the region should be carried forward.

What is the plan?
Vande Bharat Express has been designed and manufactured by ICF at Perambur under the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Centre. The Railway Minister said, “Opposition parties repeatedly accuse the Railways of privatization. I want to clearly say that Railways is a very complex organization…there is no policy of privatization of railways. There is no such plan.”

No intention to privatize railways
He said, “What is at the top of (administrator’s) mind is to try and take what is best for the Railways.” The Railway Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already said That the Central Government has no intention of privatizing the Railways.
Criticizing the erstwhile United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for doing little on the recruitment front, the minister said the Narendra Modi-led government filled 3.5 lakh posts in Railways and took steps to fill 1.40 lakh posts. . “I am reviewing the recruitment process once in 15 days to ensure that there is no bottleneck anywhere,” he said.
