Wipro, the country’s fourth largest information technology (IT) company, expects to recruit 10,000 to 12,000 students in the next financial year 2025-26. Wipro announced its December quarter numbers on Friday. The company sought to downplay any concerns about changes to the H-1B visa regime in the US, saying a significant portion of its employees are local to the US. “We are hiring a large number of people who are local to the US and today a significant portion of our workforce in the US is local,” Wipro Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil said while announcing the company’s quarterly numbers.

2,500-3,000 freshers will be recruited every quarter.

“We have a good stock of H-1B visas, so we can transfer people as and when required. If the demand increases, the supply side will not be a hindrance for us,” Govil said. The number of employees of Wipro decreased by 1,157 in the third quarter of the current financial year (2024-25) from 2,32,732 in the October-December quarter of the financial year 2024-25, while in the July-September quarter it was 2. ₹33,889 and ₹2,39,655 in the December quarter of FY 2023-24, Govil said. Pending proposals have been accepted. The company will continue to induct 2,500-3,000 ‘freshers’ every quarter. This means 10,000-12,000 ‘freshers’ will be inducted every financial year.
