New Delhi, January 11 (IANS). L&T Chairman S.N. Amid growing controversy over Subramanian’s suggestion to employees to work 90 hours a week, leading startup founders and investors on Saturday said ‘Young India’ does not want to be told what to do and we should respect them.
This doesn’t mean they are working less because young Indians are “motivated in different ways”.
“I think we all know that you need to be a well-rounded person, otherwise you can’t perform. So hard work is very important,” serial entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala told IANS during the ‘Develop India Young Leaders Dialogue 2025’ event. It is important, but the definition of hard work and work is different for different people and I think we need to respect that individuality”.
Oyo co-founder and CEO Ritesh Agarwal told IANS at the event that the concept of working hours is “not the right concept”.
Aggarwal said, “The right concept for work is that you should work wholeheartedly. Everyone is working wholeheartedly for the mission of Vikas Bharat. Some people can be productive in just 4 hours a day, whereas Some people may take 8 hours. Everyone has their own way and way of doing things.”
He further said that there is a huge opportunity ahead for Young India.
Aggarwal said, “If you have an idea to make the country ‘Developed India’, you can share it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Many excited founders will share their stories. I wish all the youth all the best for this opportunity. I want to give.”
According to Screwvala, the main point is ‘diversity’ and this is the identity of India. “We see youth as raw energy, passion, new ideas, freshness or diversity,” Screwvala said.
The Department of Youth Affairs is organizing ‘Vikas Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue’ at Bharat Mandapam on 10-12 January.
The objective of this event is to provide a unique platform to the youth to present innovative solutions for ‘Developed India’.
It provides an opportunity to young leaders to engage directly with policy makers, national and global personalities, as well as contribute their ideas to shape the future of the country.
