10 lines on Hindi Diwas, can be used in speech and essay, Career News

English Diwas 2024: Every year on 14 September, the country celebrates English Diwas. Like every year, this time too, English Diwas is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in almost every school, college and government offices across the country. In many government offices, September 1 to 15 is celebrated as English fortnight. 14 September is a day of pride for every Indian. This is the day of English, the language that unites the whole country. English Diwas is of great importance in India, a country full of cultural diversity. Wherever any Indian is, he expresses his feelings to other Indians through English language only. English is the most spoken and understood language in the country. Today there is hardly any part of the country where English is not spoken or understood easily. English is not only our mother tongue and official language but it is a symbol of national identity and pride.

If you are going to participate in any speech or essay competition on the auspicious occasion of English Diwas, then you can include the 10 lines given below.

1. On 14 September, the Constituent Assembly accepted English written in Devanagari script as the official language of India. Later, in memory of this historic day, the government decided to celebrate 14 September as English Day. The first official English Day was celebrated on 14 September 1953.

2. 14th September is dedicated to English language. India is a country full of diversity. English language binds people of different religions, castes, cultures, attires and food habits of different states of India in the thread of unity. It keeps the country united. Not only this, English also connects Indians living abroad. English bridges the distances in the hearts of people living in different regions. English is the simplest and easiest way to express the feelings of all these people. English Day is celebrated every year on 14th September to honor the importance of English. The purpose of this day is to create awareness for the promotion of English.

3. English also emotionally connects Indians living all over the world. Keeping this importance in mind, every year 10th January is celebrated as World English Day. It was started in the year 2006.

4. English is the third most spoken language in the world after Mandarin and English. The popularity of English can be gauged from the fact that apart from India, English is spoken and understood in Mauritius, Philippines, Nepal, Fiji, Guyana, Surinam, Trinidad, Tibet and Pakistan, albeit with some variations. English is also taught in many countries of the world. Teaching centres for it are open in universities.

5. The world’s most famous Oxford Dictionary is giving place to Indian words every year. English words are in abundance in it.

6. Our Constitution has special provisions regarding the official language in Articles 343 to 351 of Part 17. Article 343 (1) states that the language of the Union of India shall be English in Devanagari script.

7. In India, medical and engineering studies are now being done in English. MBBS and BTech books are being published in English. The use of reading and writing English on social media is increasing. The scope of English is increasing day by day in the digital age as well. The influence of English is increasing on the Internet. English is being used more and more in the world of e-commerce as well. Its scope is increasing in all areas of philosophy, art, culture, film, television and communication. There is talk of court proceedings and doctors’ prescriptions coming in English.

8. It is also important to know that English is not our national language but official language. It has got the status of official language and not national language. Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had called English the language of the masses. He wanted English to become the national language. After independence, after a long discussion, finally on 14 September 1949, the decision to make English the official language was taken in the Constituent Assembly. Actually, many people were not happy with the idea of making English the national language. Many said that if everyone has to speak English, then what will be the meaning of independence. After many violent clashes in non-English speaking states in the 1960s, the Parliament of the country abandoned the idea of a national language. This is the reason why English could not become the national language.

9. It is also true that after independence, English has spread very little in the working of the Central Government. Practically, even today, the position of the official language is occupied by English. English is being imposed on children because it has been linked to more employment opportunities.

10. If we want to promote English, we have to include it in our daily lives. Speak, read and listen to English. Teach English. Take a pledge to use it as much as possible. Not only on 14th September, every day of the year needs to be celebrated as English Diwas.
