The youth of Dhanbad and nearby areas will no longer have to go to another city or state to pursue a four-year integrated BSc BEd (Bachelor of Education) course. The four-year BEd course is going to start at IIT ISM Dhanbad. There will be 120 seats in the BSc BEd course of IIT Dhanbad. There are 40-40 seats in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Before starting the BSc BEd course starting from the session 2025-26, various processes are being completed by IIT ISM.
Focus on preparing quality teachers
Now science teachers will be trained in IIT Dhanbad. The entire focus of the institute is to prepare quality teachers. Eligible students studying 12th science will be able to take admission. Soon the admission process and other criteria will be decided.
At present, BSc B.Ed is not being taught in any college of Dhanbad and Bokaro. In such a situation, the students of Koyalanchal will get the benefit of starting this course in IIT Dhanbad. Sources say that preparations are on to start the admission process in BSc B.Ed course on the basis of NTA scores. At present, this course has also been started in IIT Bhubaneswar, Madras and other IITs.
What is the four-year BSc B.Ed. course: This course is a graduate dual degree course. It is of four years. The BSc B.Ed. integrated program is designed to prepare students for a career in the field of education. There will be two semesters in each year.

40-40 seats for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in B.Sc B.Ed
Dhanbad. 61 students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Benagodia Nirsa reached IIT ISM on Tuesday. The students got information about various careers at IIT Dhanbad. The students visited various laboratories. They talked to professors and experts. Giving information about the benefits of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and girl education, the experts said that there are more chances of getting a job in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as compared to others. Prof. Madhulika Gupta, Prof. Sukha Ranjan Samaddar were present on the occasion.
