7 people arrested for kidnapping and murder of Pune businessman in Bihar

Bihar Police arrested seven people, including a woman, after a businessman from Pune landing at Patna Airport, in connection with her kidnapping and murder. A senior official said that the body of Laxman Sadhu Shinde was found in Jehanabad district of Bihar on Tuesday. He landed at Patna Airport on 11 April. The official said that the gang leader who has been kidnapped and committed murder has also been arrested. Four other people have been detained for questioning. Those arrested have been identified as Ranjit Patel alias Munna, Vipatra Kumar, Lalbihari, Vikas alias Mohit, Kundan Kumar, Sangeeta Kumari and Sachin Ranjan. However, the police have not identified the detained people and the leader, who have been sent to judicial custody. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Holiday Kumar said, “The police had received a complaint from the family members of Pune businessman that they could not contact him after landing at Patna Airport.” He said, “Based on preliminary investigation and investigation of CCTV footage, the police registered a case of kidnapping and formed a special team to apprehend the accused. The police recovered the vehicle used in the kidnapping of the businessman from Vaishali and also detained the owner of the car.” During the interrogation in custody, the owner of the vehicle Vipatra Kumar explained the identity of other people. The SSP said that the police later arrested 11 people involved in the case from Nawada, Gaya, Nalanda and Vaishali districts. He said that seven people were arrested and police are interrogating four. He said that the investigation has revealed that the accused were associated with a gang of interstate criminals who used to collect money from people and also demanded ransom for the release of the kidnapped people. The SSP reported that he was also involved in several cases of kidnapping and murder at Jharkhand, Gujarat, Karnataka and other places. The accused had demanded a ransom from Pune businessman’s family members and received around Rs 90,000.
