Shariful Islam, accused of the attack, entered India illegally from Bangladesh and started committing theft incidents. Now the police has told how the accused entered India. According to police sources, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, accused of attack on Saif Ali Khan, had entered India from Bangladesh through Dawki river of Meghalaya. He also lived in West Bengal for some time, from where he got a fake Aadhaar card made.
How was the accused caught?
After the attack on Saif Ali Khan, accused Shariful Islam slept at Bandra bus stop till around 7 am in the morning, changed clothes and reached Dadar. In Dadar he got his hair cut and then bought headphones from a shop. After this he went to Worli Koliwada by bus. When he saw the news of the attack on Saif Ali Khan in the media and saw the CCTV footage and photos, he became more scared and then fled to Thane.
Police spotted the accused on CCTV with an egg pav vendor in Worli, where he had breakfast and made online payment. When the police interrogated the egg pav seller, he told that he worked as a housekeeper in a restaurant and bar in Worli. When the police reached the restaurant, it was found that a diamond ring had been stolen there, after which the hotel changed its entire staff.
Police got the mobile number of the accused
The bar owner gave the number of the labor supplier who had sent the accused to the restaurant. The labor supplier also gave the mobile number of the accused to the police. After this, the location of the mobile from which online payment was made at the Anda Pav shop matched with the location near Saif Ali Khan’s house at the time of the incident. After this, the police tracked the mobile location of the accused and laid a trap near the labor camp located in Hiranandani Estate, Thane. The accused was caught from the mangrove bushes there. Finally, the parents of the accused in Bangladesh have identified him.
