While hearing the ongoing PIL in relation to noise pollution, the Chhattisgarh High Court has directed the committee constituted by the State Government to investigate all the cases under the Sound Control Act and take a decision. The court said that the case will be heard in the second week of February next month.
Earlier, a PIL was filed in the High Court by the Civil Sangharsh Samiti Raipur and other citizens. Meanwhile, the issue of sharp music played by DJs at festivals and weddings was raised. The court also took cognizance of the death of a small child due to this noise pollution. Since then, the hearing on this PIL has been going on.
Rules are not followed.
In the last hearing held in the bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha, the court had said that rules and orders regarding noise pollution are not being followed. The court questioned the administration what the common man would do and said that it seems that the law and order has been destroyed. The court also said that the sanctions imposed on the DJ are not being followed. DJ playing incidents are still happening.
All collectors were informed.
The court ordered all district collectors to comply with rules and orders regarding noise pollution and said that if they do not do so, it will be assumed that the District Collector themselves do not want to comply with these orders. Along with this, instructions were also given to send a copy of the order to all the district collectors.
