Class 10 board examination will be held twice in the year 2026, department released notification

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to conduct class 10 board examination twice a year from next year (2026). CBSE has approved the draft prepared for this. The first phase of CBSE class 10th board exam will be held in February-March, while the second phase will be held in May 2026. CBSE said that the time limit for each stage examination will be reduced and the interval between the examination of two subjects will also be reduced.

The exam will be conducted twice a year.

According to the new rules, the exam will be conducted twice a year. According to the draft, the first phase of the CBSE board 10th examination will be held from February 17 to March 6, while the second phase will be held from 5 to 20 May.

Important points of guidelines issued by CBSE:-

If the student passes in all subjects in the first attempt. But still if he wants to take the exam again for improvement, then he can do so. If the student fails for the first time, he can take the exam for the second time. After both rounds, the best score in 5 subjects will be selected. The first round exam will be held in March 2026 and the second round exam will be held in May. CBSE has sought suggestions from people till 9 March. Under the National Education Policy 2020, students are being given the opportunity to improve their performance in the board examination. The first board exam can be held in 2026 between 17 February to 6 March, the second exam can be held between May 5 and May 20.

Experimental examination will be conducted only once.

A board official said that both the examinations will be conducted according to the syllabus and the candidates will be allotted the same examination center in both stages. At the time of application, the examination fee will be increased for both examinations. According to the new rules, board exams will be conducted twice a year, while practical and internal assessment will be conducted only once a year. The official said that the first and second phase of the board examination will also be in the form of supplementary examination and no special examination will be conducted under any circumstances.
